7 Quick Fixes for Roku Remote Not Working

You are enjoying your favorite movie on your smart TV. Suddenly, you know you are unable to control your Roku device with the dedicated remote. It means your Roku remote is not working or unresponsive. Being unable to control the Roku remote can destroy your experience of what you were enjoying. You need to find and fix the issues. 

It is hard to say that a specific way/method will help you fix the Roku remote not working issue without knowing the exact cause. You can try some helpful ways, and one of them can help you sort out the problem. Here are five ways for your support:

Check the batteries and connection of your Roku remote

Step 1: Go to the back of the Roku remote. 

Step 2: Open the battery compartment. 

Step 3: Replace the existing battery with a new one. 

Step 4: Ensure that you have inserted the battery properly with polarity markings in mind.

Step 5: Check the connection between your remote and Roku device if battery replacement does not help you sort out the problem. 

Step 6: See whether infrared lights are on. 

Step 7: Keep the Roku remote in the direct line with the device. 

Step 8: Remove obstacles like a furniture piece if it is.  

Re-pair your Roku remote with the device

Test your Roku remote from several different positions

Step 1: Hold your remote higher than the previous one and make sure it is pointing down at the front of the device.

Step 3: Use the position that works while using the remote.   

Make your streaming player visible

Step 1: Find whether there is an adhesive strip attached to the streaming player that is connected to your TV. 

Step 2: Move the strip to a position to ensure it will not block the signal coming from the remote. 

Update your Roku streaming device

Step 1: Know what Roku OS you have in your streaming device – 9.4 or higher. 

Step 2: Go to Settings, System, and then About. 

Step 3: Check the version of your Roku streaming device. 

Step 4: Check for an update and download and install it if you find a new update.
