How to install the watchOS 10.1 Beta 3 on your Apple Watch

The 2023 WWDC event put on by Apple was quite surprising. The latest release of watchOS 10 was introduced. This article will help you navigate downloading and installing the new watchOS 10.1 Beta 3 on your Apple Watch.

Note: We recommend not installing a beta version on your primary device because you’ll likely encounter some bugs.

Caution: You can’t downgrade your watchOS. That means you’re stuck with the developer beta of watchOS 10 once you upgrade to it.

To install the new watchOS 10 successfully, you’ll need to fulfill some requirements:

  • iOs Compatibility — Your iPhone Xs or a later model must have an iOS 17 developer beta.

  • Data Protection — Creating a backup of your Apple Watch data is recommended to thwart possible data loss.

Steps to Download and Install watchOS 10.1 Beta 3

  1. Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on My Watch and then select General.
  3. Look for the Software Update option and tap on it.
  4. Scroll to the Beta Updates section, and you’ll find watchOS 10.1 Beta 3 or watchOS 10 Public Beta listed there.
  5. Hit the < arrow to return to the Software Update section and select Download and Install next to the beta update.
  6. If asked, input your iPhone passcode.
  7. Tap on the Agree button to accept the Terms and Conditions.
  8. Ensure your Apple Watch is connected to its charger with at least a 50% charge before proceeding.
  9. Tap on Install to start the update process.
