By Last Updated: January 9, 2024

You love your Android phone a lot. From images and videos to text messages and WhatsApp chats, you have almost everything on your Android smartphone. You can lose your data if there is any mishandling with your device. The mishandling could be falling off the device in water or its stealing by someone. At that time, you will not be able to get your data back if you have not enabled automatic backup of your data or you do not store your valuable data manually.

What Data You Should Backup

Your Android phone receives a lot of data when you make or receive a call, chat with your close one, send an email, and do allied things on your device. Some data could be very valuable for you. So, here is a probable list of data that you should backup either on your device or Google cloud. Other places where you can backup your Android phone data are one drive, Windows PC, and MacBook. The list is as follows:

  • App data
  • Call history
  • Contacts
  • Pictures and videos
  • Settings
  • SMS messages
  • MMS messages

Where Your Data is Stored When You Backup Your Android Phone

Your Android device data is stored in Google server if you have selected Google Drive, Photos, or One for your data backup. It will get stored in your device’s cloud such as MI Cloud (for Redmi smartphones) if you have enabled your device for backing up your data. To backup your data to Google, you need to have a Google account with a relevant password. For some data, you may need to draw a pattern or enter the PIN. Your data remains safe in the respective cloud or server for a certain period. It gets deleted if you do not access the data within that period.

You can use your Windows PC or Macbook to backup your phone data. For this, you can connect your PC and Android phone through a USB cable, or Bluetooth. After establishing the connection between two devices, you can choose the data you want to transfer and start the process. After the completion of data transfer on your PC, you can save it to Microsoft or Mac cloud.
