Hiding apps on your Android phone can be a useful way to maintain your privacy. You can keep certain apps out of sight, or prevent others from accessing specific applications. Whether you want to hide sensitive information or just declutter your app drawer, here is a step-by-step guide on how to hide apps on your Android device:

Use Built-in App Hiders

Some Android devices come with built-in features to hide apps. These features might be labeled as App Lock, App Hider, or something similar. Check the settings or app drawer of your Android phone for any such pre-installed tools.

Use a Third-Party App

If your device does not have a native app hiding feature, you can rely on third-party apps from the Google Play Store. Some popular choices include Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher, or App Hider. The steps to use one of these apps are as follows:

  • Install the app of your choice from the Google Play Store.

  • Open the app, and follow the on-screen instructions to set it as your default launcher (if it’s a launcher-based app).
  • Access the app’s settings and look for an option to hide apps. This process may vary depending on the app you choose, so follow the provided instructions.

Disable Apps to Hide Apps on Android

On certain Android devices, you cannot hide apps completely. However, you can disable them. Disabling apps will make them disappear from your app drawer. The steps to disable apps are as follows:

  • Click on your Android smartphone’s Settings.
  • Navigate to Apps or Applications.

  • Choose the app you wish to hide and click on it.

  • Select the Disable or Turn Off option.

Create a Hidden Folder

You can create a hidden folder on your home screen to keep specific apps out of sight. To do this:

  • Long-press on the home screen to add a new folder.

  • Give the folder a name, and then add the apps you want to hide into this folder.

  • You can also change the folder’s icon to something inconspicuous to further hide the apps.
  • App Drawer Customization
  • Some Android launchers, such as Nova Launcher, allow you to customize your app drawer. You can hide apps by placing them in a separate tab or drawer that isn’t readily visible.

Use Guest Mode

On some Android devices, you can set up a guest mode, which provides a different, clean environment for others to use your phone. Apps hidden in your primary user profile will not be visible in guest mode.

Secure Your Device

It is crucial to secure your device with a PIN, password, or biometric authentication. This prevents others from accessing the hidden apps even if they discover them.
